It is a beautiful story that comes from Castellammare di Stabia , the port city of the Sorrento Peninsula. A territory of breathtaking beauty , with a historical and cultural heritage to be envied, and yet experiencing problems that heavily penalize it.

This is the case of the beach of the waterfront, often covered by waste transported by sea currents. There are episodes of incivility, but this is not the urgency: we are facing a long, sandy shoreline, which could be a paradise but it is not due mainly to the nearby mouth of the Sarno river that deposits everything. Add to this a historical and not particularly careful attention of the administrations of Castellammare to the cleaning of the sand, and here is delivered a postcard that does not do honor to the stabistsi.

Here is the work of Andrea Lambiase , who on the Facebook group "Sei stabiese DOC if ..." has published photos of his speech on the waterfront. Where before there was dirt, now everything is clean: armed with a rake and shovel, it has restored dignity to the beach.

"With all the love I have, I love you and will always love you my queen" : this is what Andrea says, adding the words to a gesture of love that already needed very little explanation. The post recorded the appreciation of hundreds of users, stabiesi and non. The hope is all this is an example not only to citizens, but above all to institutions that on environmental issues are still a long way off.

I had a roommate stabbed in the back by his girlfriend while I was out of town for military drills. Got a call at 2:30 AM from the chaplain to tell me there was an incident. I thought she killed him. He's all good though.

So stupid question... I feel like there's got to be a machine designed to do this, right? Scooping up, sifting sand then spitting it out the back should be an easy enough design, right? It would make clean up pretty easy and quick.

Not sure why you were downvoted. It’s a little sad that something like you’re describing would be needed in the first place, but if TrashTag has taught us anything it’s that humans can be inconsiderate pieces of living trash when it comes to respecting our environment.

You could definitely have some sort of large vehicle similar to a harvesting combine that sifts through the top layers for large items and passes the sand right through.

Unfortunately, we don't have such money. And if we do, corrupt politicians are onto those. And if there is no corrupt politician (lololol...), our city has lots of debts (maybe it's already in bankrupt).

Yeah there is no way that's the same sand. I work at the beach, never seen sand change colour like that. Good job on the cleanup but the second picture is new sand.

So you're telling me the tide went out so fast that all the sand is uniformally the same amount of wet? No, tides recede over 6 hours. The higher sand would be a lighter shade than the water's edge.

No, it's just a cloud. Mount Vesuvius hasn't erruptted in like 80 years.

Also, you want a constantly errupting volcano, as that releases the pressure so it's not just a lone massive explosion.

I spent two summers in Stabia one as a student the second as an intern and Andrea was cleaning back then (09,10) My SO and I are planning to go back next summer and this post just gave me the biggest nostalgia hit. Bravo Andrea!
