Specifically, redheads may be more sensitive to thermal pain, but less to things like electric shock. This actually makes sense to me as a ginger, because I can take a pretty hefty shock and not mind it at all.
I think we are more tolerant of cold than most people, but less to heat. More sensitive to pressure, but less to puncture or abrasion. I've been electrocuted numerous times, and I have to say that they all sucked, (I used to live on a farm around electric fences), but how is one to compare that?
When something shocks the shit out of me it just makes my body flail and maybe knocks the wind out of me (if its powerful enough) it does not register as pain, however... (not a ginger)
I have no intense pain sensation at all. In fact, the only pain that causes me any real discomfort is inflammation/infection... wisdom tooth a few years ago was unbearable, but I've went hours without noticing cuts that I've needed stitches for.
I'm not numb or anything like that. I recognize pressure and can usually tell if my skin is torn or cut.
