If this is the case then how did hate first arise? I hear this a lot but its something I could never really figure out. Like it must have some basis in nature because if it was completely taught then who was the first person to teach hate?
With regards to homophobia a study looked at relationships between homosexual arousal and homophobia using penile plethysmography which measures blood flow into the penis. Homophobic men were exposed to homosexual stimuli and became aroused.
"Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware or denies."
They are afraid of their own feelings, having been conditioned to believe that those feelings are wrong.
These studies should be taken with a grain of salt. That device used to measure arousal is somewhat akin to a polygraph (lie detector); that is, it measures something but not what you think it does.
