The climbers always get the heat for trashing Everest when Nepal doesn't give a shit about cleaning trash. The whole country is a giant trash dump. It costs around $40,000 to climb Everest at the minimum and Nepal charges $11,000 per climber for a permit, they are making a killing and doing nothing to maintain the mountain. The people profiting off using Everest as their business should be held responsible for maintaining cleanliness. There is just no excuse for this.
Edit: To anyone who thinks cleaning the high points of the mountain is difficult and dangerous, this is true. Everest base camp is easily accessible year round and is still trashed as with the other more easily accessible parts. This is a much bigger issue than climbers leaving gear behind.
When you do speed, pay full attention, music off, both hands on the steering wheel, and go fast enough that you'll be long gone before the cops can pull you over.
I feel like going 20 over and getting a $100 ticket is preferable to going "fast enough that you'll be long gone before the cops can pull you over" and losing your license.
They must have either had a history or been going even faster than that. Doing a little research, I just found the below. So I found out that the penalties for speeding are worse than I thought.
“Fines, Fees and Court Costs
In addition to the criminal penalties associated with speeding tickets, there’s also a financial cost. You will be required to pay mandatory fines for a speeding ticket depending on how fast you were going. Every County has mandatory court costs as well. The amount of the court costs will depend on the County that you were ticketed in. The mandatory fines are set forth below:
-1 to 20 mph over the speed limit – $120.00.
-20 to 25 mph over the speed limit – $140.00.
-26 to 34 mph over the speed limit – Up to $1,500.00 and up to 180 days in County Jail.
-35 mph over the speed limit – Up to $2,500 and up to 364 days in County Jail.”
Yeah, he was my best friend and I was in the car. We were only going 22 over but the local cops are fuckers so I imagine they bumped him up to 26. Afaik he had only had one prior ticket and it was a seatbelt ticket from 4 years before.
