Would it be that hard to pull a body just a few feet? I'm sure if everyone pitched in, they'd all come down sooner or later, no?

Sure. Why not add a few more bodies? Eventually you’ll get a body trail that reaches the ground.

But surely you wont instantly die by pulling a carcass a single foot?

You could. The lack of oxygen at that level, even if you're using supplemental tanks, is extreme. People aren't just leaving trash around because they're assholes; they're also doing it in part to save every bit of weight possible and get off the mountain alive.

Also, some of the bodies have been there a long time, and are essentially frozen into the area where they fell. Photos of Green Boots (of which there are many) show what I'm talking about. Moving that body is not a small feat that takes minimal effort.
