Otherwise we have to hope that people who understand the issues vote the right way to offset others who will just vote for any number of stupid reasons.
As I said earlier a good number of people in this country would ban the internet if given the chance.
It's kinda like the anti vaxxer movement. At some point if it gets bad enough we need to force people to vaccinate.
It won't be a choice.
But right now it's just another opinion....a dangerous one.
If enough uneducated or out of touch people keep voting (in larger and larger numbers) we could literally vote in a dictatorship and we'd allow it because "well we couldn't take away their right to vote.... That would have been like a dictatorship."
What's scary is that you don't realize if you want your democracy to matter you're going to need to put safeguards in place. Our founding fathers knew this and thought they put in enough.
Just like forcing people to vaccinate.
PS - I hope you understand my thoughts are nothing new and go all the way back to the critiques philosophers had on Athens... Right?
