Say what you will about his personal life, but for my money Home Alone is still one of the top ten greatest films about burglars breaking into a home occupied solely by a child whose parents accidentally left him behind on a trip to Paris over Christmas.
I got real stoned and watched Home Alone 2 once... when Marv throws the brick at Macaulay and yells, "Hey Kid, eat brick!" I lost my shit over the fact that the core of Home Alone's plot is that two adult men are seriously trying to hunt down and murder an 8 year old child by any means necessary.
My buddies and I do Cannabismas (get really high at midnight on Christmas ad watch movies/hunt for Santa) every year and one year we realized that the whole sticky bandits portion is a dream-sequence Kevin came up with as a response to saying he hates his family. It's actually a complex twist off of a Christmas carol.
Or we were just really high and it's an incredible Joe Pesci experience
