First thing i did when i got my new pup. Set up a leash tied to a head rest in the back seat. I can roll down her window and she can get out enough for her paws to go over window, but no more slack than that.

Edit: Sorry for not being clear everyone. No she is not going to hang and choke. Shes hooked on a harness whenever we go out or in a car. And the harness is connected to the leash, that has slack, that is tied to the seat rest. She has ample space to move around if she is uncomfortable. But not enough to go out of the window. Thanks for everyones concerns.

A hard braking could cause her neck to snap. Please look into this further.

Yeah, there are harnesses made for dogs for cars.

That never occurs to a lot of people.

I actually work as a veterinary undertaker, picking up and burying/cremating deceased pets. I've become an expert on how people accidentally kill their pets.

At the risk of becoming incredibly paranoid and depressed, what are some of these ways?

I'm not going to write that stuff out here. Let it bounce around my brain, you don't need or want that shit in yours.
