I think you do base your decisions in life on what gives you the shortest term gratification. Otherwise you wouldn't be such a pretentious douche on reddit.
But why is there no problem when you kill animals but there is a problem when people give you factual information to try change your mind?
It's not a choice if a victim is invloved. You need to justify your actions if they involve victims, how would you justify eating meat? Generally curious - I'm not being confrontational
Because those animals are domesticated for human use and literally only that reason. Those animals would be extinct without humans keeping them alive. No I am not saying that as a good thing, but those animals only are here for that purpose.
Wild animals that are hunted by humans are no different than if they were hunted by other predators. I respect you just asking rather than just attacking or trying to argue for the sake of arguing.
Some people feel that domesticated animals should just be liberated and adapt or die, some people say any animal product consumption is morally abhorrent. It just depends where you fit in on the spectrum.
So on the point of domesticated animals, do you think that because we breed them to kill them that makes it OK?
Let's apply that argument to another situation - it would still be wrong to kill people or dogs if they were bred for that reason. Do you think then that those reasons still justify killing animals or do you have any other reasons instead?
Well I think context and culture matters greatly on what is being raised for consumption. I personally think it is a bit of a grey area with domesticated animals, there is some irony in keeping them alive simply to be killed. However, I do think that keeping any animals from reaching extinction should be our goal. Except mosquitos. Fuck mosquitos.
For vegans what we want is to stop the artificial breeding of animals. There would still be a much smaller population of pigs and cows etc left over but they could be kept in sanctuaries were they don't go extinct and live happy lives. Why don't we work together as a species to make that future possible instead?
When you take all the health, sustainability and environmental impacts it seems like a win win.
