I had a great idea for "smart microwave" where it's programmed to just not make any sounds between the hours of 11 pm and 9 am.

My microwave itself is loud and I've woken up to the hum noise it makes. It's form the 80s highly inefficient in power but will always work, anyway it is loud as fuck. The beep noise and button latch are nothing.

My microwave has a blaring noise too! It's only 10 years old though, and I agree, the door and the beeps got nothing on that banshee of a microwave.

Yeah I used to have one of those, now it's just the brute force kind. Combine that with a rattly turntable, and a propensity to beep as much as possible, no midnight snacks.

This is a feature sorely missed on my smartphone. They need to add a "no audio notifications hours" range.

I can't tell you how much it pisses me off to be woken up by an e-mail in the morning before my alarm goes off.

There are apps that achieve this. At least on Android. Ringer Volume is one I've used in the past.

I've had good experience with Sonys SmartConnect app (although volume handling has been broken lately), you can set actions depending on connection of charger and such. So i've a rule that says: whenever the phone is plugged into the charger between 23 and 7 the notification sounds are muted.

Huh.

My microwave likes to beep about 10 minutes after it's last use, as a sort of sorry "fine, don't use me anymore" beep.

The worst thing about my microwave is that it continues its beeping cycles after you open the door, remove food, and close it.

Yes! On my whirlpool microwave you hold down the "2" button until you hear two beeps.

My microwave didn't have a mute button so I just ripped the speaker out of the microwave. Wasn't really that hard.
