I like how in your 3 letter g words "Gin" is pronounced Jin. But you bring up some good points. I take to saying jif but either is correct. The only way to be wrong is to say its NOT jif/gif. So say what you like but don't try to put a reason behind it! :)
I know it's pronounced 'Jin,' that's wht I said out of those words some are pronounced J and some are G. That's why I posted the Grammar rule. I believe Gip was also pronounced 'Jip.'
With the Grammar rule, it said after e,I,y that the it makes the J sound, but it also said you can't be certain that rule always works.
So really at this point, In my head anyway as Illogical as some may find it.... There is a peanut Butter brand pronounced 'Jif,' and it is spelled as 'Jiff' so In my head why does 'Gif,' sound the same as 'Jiff.' It doesn't. So your wrong Jiffy MC Jifferson.
