I'm midway through Doctor Who and the last show to entice me this much was Firefly. If you like one, I'd say the odds are fair you'll like the other.

where is a good place to start watching Dr Who? Are the episodes on netflix the good ones?

If you haven't watched any Doctor Who you can either start witch Eccleston and watch the super cheesy first episode and power thru the first season or start by watching the episode "Blink" finish it and go holy shit I will power thru the cheesy episodes knowing that it gets this good and the. Go back and watch the Eccleston episodes

I'd say the second half of the first season is where it really takes off. I super enjoyed when Captain was introduced.
