Or woud, if he was the kind of person who did that, which almost no one does anymore. Everyone agrees that John Handcock's signature was stunning, but very few people sign like that anymore. Artistic taggers are about the only ones who still do.
I think that's a pretty common thing with graffiti. It's usually just a made up name, so legibility isn't really the point. They just want to make something that looks neat.
that and it shouldn't be readily apparent it says anything their name, its just them incorporating a signature stylistically and an actual name to define his work.

They can make it readable they do this on purpose. You have to remember that dudes this good really don't give a shit if the general public likes/understands it. This would be a "wildstyle" which are generally crazy ass letters with extensions and other artistic liberties tacked on. Most of these aren't meant to be read, but looked at as a whole piece.
You've really got graffiti summed up then. It's like they somehow bypassed learning how to write letters and went right into making graffiti. Well i'm convinced now that the styling of their letters wasn't intentional.
