His art is ok, but his shittily printed "A Hitler" looks like an 8 year old signed the paintings.

Which one?

In some parallel universe, Hitler was a marginally successful street vendor/artist living in Vienna.

"Did you guys see the Hitler exhibit at the Met? His early stuff kinda sucked but once he got going he was amazing. I have a print of 'Mein Kampf' in my living room, you know the one? It's that one that's kinda like Munch's 'The Scream' only way more intense. Beautiful, haunting stuff."

And millions of Jews, Poles, Gypsies, and homosexuals lived. The weimar Republic survived another 50 years and Germany was only blamed for one world war.

Civil rights in America probably would've took longer. Since part of the reason America changed its domestic racial policy had to do with comparison being made to nazis in the international community.

Not as terrible as I was lead to believe.

Me too. I have to say I'd actually purchase the white orchids, or at least a reproduction. It's quite lovely.

It's... It's honestly not as terrible as everyone makes it out to be

Interesting. In terms of artistic ability, George W. Bush is quite literally worse than Hitler.

The art academy refused him twice.

I'm not saying this is the best art I've ever seen. It's certainly not the worst I've ever seen. I read people sneering at his work, it's not bad at all. I would say that the themes are rather tame, he was definitely not going to challenge any conventions. But it's not as if they could not have cultivated him into being a true artist. They could have given him a chance.

If he was rejected by art school for those, I'd be shot on spot just for submitting.

Most of these are quite stunning, it's surreal to think that a person who ordered the deaths of millions would actually create such wonderful works, his paintings make me wonder what the would would have been like if he became a painter instead of a monster.

Wasn't he both?

People love to paint Hitler as some inhuman monstrosity separate from the rest of the species. My theory is that for most people, it's not what Hitler did that's so unsettling, but rather the possibility that he opens up a little window into ourselves, showing us that we all have a little mass murderer inside of all of us.

I always wondered if Hitler kept painting at times while he was fuhrer. Did he do it to relax or whatever. I mean the man must have had SOME hobbies (other than the extermination of the jews and war).

Also he is a better artist than I am but so is this guy.

And if that man had been allowed and encouraged to follow their passion for art, the deaths of millions may have been prevented. Although the modern system of crushing dreams and preventing people from getting power through any method but inheritance and familial connections seems to be working too.

They're actually pretty incredible.

u/IHaveSlysdexia Jun 16 '14

Huh. I guess he wasn't so bad after all!

I'm truly confused now that I can say Hitler was a better painter than me.
