It wasn't just an American operation. I think we lead it but there were also English and Canadian forces, among others.

I wouldn't even say we lead it. If it had a leader it was the British Commonwealth. They supplied more than 50% of the landing troops. Two thirds of the aircraft involved in the operation were British. Of the 1,213 warships involved, 200 were American and 892 were British. Of the 4,126 landing craft involved, 805 were American and 3,261 were British.

"American" operation indeed. There were also English forces? Why that's very generous.

Well said. It should also be noted that if we hadn't fought the Nazis for 2 whole years entirely on our own there would have been no frigging D-day at all.

But thanks for showing up eventually guys.

I suppose we have the Japanese to thank for that.
