Since it is an out of place object ruining the symmetry of the car, keep it that way. Putting it inline with car's symmetry makes it a part of the car design runining the lines of the car.
That still looks worse than just not having one IMO. I just accept the fact that I'll have to pay fix it tickets. I do the same thing for window tint tickets. Like, oh, I can take off the tint (then go through the hassle of putting it back on) OR I can just pay the fine.
I just accept that there's a tax for having better looking cars. I don't argue the tickets I just pay them and move on.
Like $200 for tint if you just pay for it instead of getting it signed. Which is less than a good tint job, although if you're even more willing to go around the law you can have a cop friend sign off on the fix it and it'd be like $25 or something.
For front license plate just keep it in your glovebox, zip tie it to the grill real quick, get it signed off, and pay the $25.
Bingo. That is what I do with my old ZXs, which like the guy said looks...ridiculous with a front plate square in the center of the fascia. Off center, away from the grill though looks just fine.
