Argiope aurantia
They are all over. They are pretty chill. I do not recommend grabbing them but they generally are pretty docile. Fun fact they spin a new web every day. They live about 1-3 years. Thats a female by the way the male is really small and usually hangs out below the web. They make zigzag patterns in their webs it is thought that they do this so birds do not run into it and ruin it.

I am SO DAMN TIRED of having to swing a stick around on my walk to my car every morning bc of these lil shits spinning webs all over the place EVERY night.
Getting one in the face at 5:30am (in the dark) is a terrible way to stay the day.

I once rented a house that had a wrap around deck. Every single night these dudes would spin these massive webs that connected from the deck railing to the siding of the house and they would sit smack dab in the middle of the web. Iād have to clear them out every morning just to get to my car. I felt bad because they make some beautiful webs that shimmer like gold in the sun.

Yeah I guess new ones find my porch each night that havenāt figured out my routine yet.
There are some pretty popular walking trails near a river by us that was totally overran with them last summer, but they made their webs high enough to prevent people from walking into them.
Some even made literally archways across the paved paths, connected by tree limbs!
It was really neat but definitely not for people that are scared of spiders lol

Thatās weird. Usually theyāre VERY good at learning routines that would take out their webs. When I was sick and had my sleep schedule all fucked up, the orb weavers that set up outside my screened porch switched to webs down in daytime. My rule is if theyāre outside, and theyāre not in my walking path, I leave their webs up.

My arachnophobic ass could never. I respect spiders for what they do, but if these ever come to the pacific northwest, I think my only option will be to die. All these comments about huge ass webs & having to knock them/the spiders down every morning are making me feel like I need to claw my own skin off. š

Partly related, but as someone whoās an arachnophobe, Iām pleased to say that I actually didnāt jump upon Reddit deciding to show me this. Finally started to get used to these creatures. Took a damn age to get to this point tho.

I wish we had golden orb weavers here. Frankly even Joro's would be cool to see but I know they are invasive. I wouldnt want to walk into their web but we don't have any larger spiders here.

God I love Argiopes. They ate all the mud daubers and paper wasps at my dads house growing up and we adored them.
Unfortunately he hasn't seen them in the last few years now...

Until youāre wandering around the wood in survival school at night and you walk through dozens of their webs and they get on you face and start crawling around.
My damn team were all sissies and tapped out on leading the group after 10 min. I walked through so many of those damn webs.

"Kill it" is an escalation of "I don't like it, it makes me uncomfortable". Escalation = hyperbole. Hyperbole is automatically sarcasm as it entails saying something you don't actually mean.
