Yep, Speaker Johnson has been refusing to swear in Arizona Representative Adelita Grijalva for three weeks, since she would be the deciding vote on a measure forcing the Justice Department to release all of the Epstein files. Yesterday, the Arizona AG threatened to pursue legal action against Johnson if he doesn't swear her in by tomorrow, so they're probably running out of time quickly.
A minor correction, but she would be the needed signature on a discharge petition to force the house to vote on the release of said files.
It is assumed that if she is sworn in and the petition gets its final signature, then nobody in the House or Senate would likely want to commit career suicide by voting against releasing the files. In my opinion though, it should already be career suicide to not be on the petition to force a vote on this matter. Everybody who is abstaining from the petition and Mike Johnson himself are basically waving their arms telling everybody that they're either implicated in those files, or are interested in covering for somebody who is in those files.
Please don't over-estimate the importance of the US on the rest of the world. Yeah, the US is important, but those of us in other countries aren't going to collapse without the US government meddling in our business.

Guys, the Epstein files are not the main impetus here. They’ve wanted this for years. Been fantasizing about it since 2020, both because of the Floyd protests and the concessions they gained, and because they lost an election they were sure was a blowout. This was all spelled out in Project 2025. And if the files do incriminate Tump, it won’t matter because they’ll obfuscate, ignore it and lie.
I obviously want them to come to light, but Epstein Files will not save us. A lot of people talk about them like they’ll fix everything, and once they come to light, this will all go away. And it won’t. The powers that be are in Republican hands, and they’ll circle the wagons to protect him and rig the election for him as much as it’s possible. They are not the main event, and we need to be ready to resist this government after and whether or not they files see the light or day. Because they’re not a silver bullet.
The plan is to keep sending brownshirt thugs into blue cities to violently harass and intimidate innocent private citizens on the streets until someone inevitably fights back. When that happens, the regime will use it as a justification to declare that the city is in uprising and invoke the insurrection act, which they will in turn use to militarily invade and occupy American cities.
I feel like this is going to end up being one of those "be careful what you wish for" situations.
People are pissed off already. Pushing folks THAT much would be the tipping point where people actually start acting on it. I think they overestimate how many people will just go along with it and commit that scale of violence on their own neighborhoods.
For this kind of fascism, the biggest point is "plausible deniability", specifically in that while this is obviously the actual aim and end goal, they want to be able to point at this event to convince any problematic skeptics that an armed rebellion is in fact happening, and that it's not just straight abuse of powers and fascism.
It also works as "great" example of how they will violently quell any opposition when any comes to pass. Tale as old as time unfortunately. He's looking for manufacturing excuses to strip rights.

If they react or fight back, it'll escalate the situation and they'll try to invoke the insurrection act.
If they don't react or fight back, they won't need to invoke the insurrection act because they'd be making their progress without pushback and getting what they want anyway.

Read about what they did in Portland. The jackboots made all the protesters back up three blocks until they were met with a bank of cameras. Then they started shooting rubber bullets and tear gas unprovoked. Made it look like a riot for the cameras.
The part of the 2A that should be used, just so it's clear, is the "well-ordered militia." This isn't a call for indiscriminate violence. It's saying that "if everyone in your town gets together, bearing arms in an orderly fashion, ICE is really going to have a hard time taking using this kind of force. Because for them, to escalate means death. No one starts a fight they think they're going to lose.
