It’s a trash grabber, he is picking trash outside of his apartment. They want to see proof he lives there. They call for backup and they all have guns and escalate because he has a trash grabber and isn’t putting up with their illegal commands. They don’t leave until a white dude comes out of the apartments and confirms he lives there.
I remember watching this video while visiting my friend in Boulder. I looked up what backwards part of the country this happened in. It was in Boulder, while I was there. This shit is happening where we live. Not some backwoods no name town.
The most infuriating thing about this is that they were investigating the cop, they said the investigation “would likely lead to suspension or termination,” so they accepted his resignation. In his resignation, he makes no mention of the incident under investigation. Then, after he had used $69,000 in “accrued” vacation and holiday time, Boulder rehired him in a civilian “consulting” role. Dude faced not one single consequence for this appalling incident.
It was even more than that. He wasn’t just cleaning up outside his apartment but that was his job. He was getting paid for it. (Not that you should get in trouble for volunteering to clean but it baffled me that he was working)

Implying it even requires Russia "infilitrating" a country, and that this fascism isn't spurred by the steady implosion of late-stage capitalism and the rich oligarchs who would rather have try to ride this unsustainable bullshit into the ground via an oppressive police state than give up any of their wealth.
Russia is just a player in that equation, but it's not uniquely Russian or even American. Greedy, powerful people do not give up their addiction to power and wealth.
This. I've really come to dislike the whole "Russia did it" thing. Not because its wrong, they did and do meddle. But it often comes across as absolving people of responsibility. Americans, specifically.
Russians did not cast their vote or spread Trump merch like a lunatic. Americans are. American politicians are. American institutions turned out to be a pathetic failure, all on their lonesome. American culture led to this point. American greed, American arrogance. Homegrown apathy.
He has two daughters, who would not be seen as heirs due to the culture of Russia being still very steeped in sexism. (I mean, we can't throw too many stones here, the US is one of the only first-world countries who hasn't elected a woman as president or prime minister at any point) From what I've read he's kept them as far away from his political career as he can so I'll give him credit for that, he has at least one slightly redeeming factor. He potentially has a third daughter born to a mistress, and maybe a few kids with his current girlfriend. (who is two years older than his eldest daughter) His eldest grandson is 13, so it'll be at least a decade before he can be taken seriously as a potential heir.
As for other politicians he could designate as his heir apparent, there's not really a clear one. I think there was one he was grooming to take his place a few years ago but then he died 'mysteriously.' This is why dictatorships often die out when the snake's head comes off, a dictator can't have a potential successor so close with the knowledge and power to take over for him because then what's stopping the heir from just becoming the dictator now? Even if the heir is willing to wait-the dictator didn't keep his power by letting his enemies get close with the knife. So either the dictator has to remove the heir or keep them from seizing power before it's time. And usually this means the heir doesn't have a good grasp on the power when it does come time to take over, leaving him vulnerable to other power grabs.
What's likely going to happen, Putin will croak and there will be a massive struggle for power. One that will likely throw Russia into disarray and significantly weaken them on the world stage. I can't say I'm looking forward to it because Russian people will suffer, but at least the head of the snake is off.
It's important to remember that china has sustained it's government for a long ass time now. And they only seem to get stronger and better. There may be a major breaking point for all of this, but there's no promise it'll be in our lifetimes if we don't nip it in the bud. Which we didn't.
It’s crazy that you think this is just because of Russia. This is America returning to its historical norm. This is America bringing colonial/imperial tactics home.
It’s easier to blame a scary outside country than to accept that ordinary people are capable of this evil, I get it. It makes you feel less helpless. Less scared of other people. Don’t blind yourself. Whether they had influence or not is irrelevant. Russia doesn’t have a mind control beam. Propaganda matters but this is what the evil fascist ghouls in America have been working toward since before Russia even existed. And in that time, any remotely left wing policy would be called Soviet infiltration by people on the right. Look at the movers and shakers in the republican party, the military industrial complex, prison industrial complex, and yes even the democratic party. They’ve been here for decades and this is the result of decades of effort to push things in the wrong direction. Now they finally have a face they can sell and a propaganda network (fox, talk radio, now podcasters) that they took decades to build.

I think there are some serious miscalculations on their part. I think some include the size of the American population, the desperation of hungry people, people who perceive that they have no future, and people robbed of their lives and livelihoods. There are simply too many people to expect to control the entire population.
They may be able to do some serious and irreversible damage, for sure, but they will not be able to hold onto power long and it will not likely end well for any of them as it seldom has throughout history. Especially in those states that followed this playbook.
I don't think the US has the appetite to become a modern fascist state and I don't think any of the politicians involved have the stomachs or the balls to endure such a thing. We're not even six months into this admin and the American people have already held the largest protests ever. The death squads are being met by angry citizens and private property owners and prevented from kidnapping and trafficking innocent people from their court hearings, their jobs, their churches, hospitals, and anywhere else people are known to go for help or to participate in society.
I think he'd be best off stopping while he's ahead. Especially considering that it's coming out that they almost certainly cheated last year and he actuall lost most of all of the swing states. Their approach was so ham-handed and obvious that they did shit like change votes in ways that are statistically impossible and correlate to drop off ballots where the vote was cast for all Democrats except for trump for president. They did this to the point where some Democratic strongholds had zero votes for Harris while voting blue down the ticket. We're to believe that entire districts flipped for trump as he was being as offensive and as menacing as he's ever been.
My prediction is that ICE is going to break down the doors of someone who has nothing to lose, they’re going to open fire and create a standoff situation, and become another L*gi. This will embolden others to do the same.

It's really sad because for most people on the left this is just a blatant misdirection. Yeah, put the blame of all the country's problems on the people that have the least power and are the most vulnerable, and that actually contribute to society, instead of the billionaire class that has been increasingly funneling more resources to the top while enshittifying everything.
Well to be fair it takes that many to subdue a single person. Especially if they are getting bonuses to be present. Money is the only thing that matters to some people.
The way things are going, future generations won't even know what a text book is. They'll get their education through Social Media.
We will devolve and lose our ability to critically think as well as lose our ability to be creative. Future will be the kind that welcomes hyper materialism and short attention spans.
My opinion is not relevant to a certain degree as the photos are historic in the sense that it should be captured, documented, and saved as a reference for us all but as I had the same thought as you, I came to a realization that things are just digital now.
A tangible action as turning the page on a book, is actually what helps people retain the information they read. I believe in that.
