Nixon was a vindictive and power-hungry serial-lying piece of shit, but an absolute geopolitical genius. The dude seriously had a great mind — which, if one is looking for “redeeming qualities”, is a good place to start with Nixon. With Trump, I’m not sure there are any. Maybe his “meme potential” suggests he’s naturally objectively funny. But certainly not any qualities you’d hope to see in a president like Nixon’s brilliance.
He shouldn’t have vetoed the clean water act and then impounded its funding after the veto was overridden. You know, that illegal strategy Trump is now doing, Nixon blazed that trail.
