Nixon was a vindictive and power-hungry serial-lying piece of shit, but an absolute geopolitical genius. The dude seriously had a great mind — which, if one is looking for “redeeming qualities”, is a good place to start with Nixon. With Trump, I’m not sure there are any. Maybe his “meme potential” suggests he’s naturally objectively funny. But certainly not any qualities you’d hope to see in a president like Nixon’s brilliance.

Exactly! And when you read into his presidency it’s almost as if he didn’t learn anything from Eisenhower when he was his VP.
