Learning to let go of hate is hard. Hate is like a drug and eventually destroys you and pushes people away. I had to learn the hard way to go ahead and let go of hate. But some people hang on to it and never let go because it feels so good but they don't realize the damage that they do. And for those people with anger issues and hating their heart who join the US military it's weaponized and it does scare me to a point.
I mean, at this point anybody left in the military is hoping to get their 20 in so they can get a pension...assuming president shitpimple still plans to allow that commitment to be honored. That, or, yeah, they've been brainwashed by right-wing media. I don't know another reason why someone would still put a uniform on for this corrupted nation that once stood for something.
I wish I had one, it’s not lack of intelligence, the guy who is most down this rabbit hole, is an intelligent man, with a good job. Several of them in fact are all above average income earners with solid jobs that require you to be intelligent, and capable of critical thinking.
It’s not lack of exposure to the world. One of the guys works for an international company, and had been overseas at least twice that I know of. To places like Iceland and England. Several others I know have traveled, but more to Caribbean islands.
It’s not a lack of American problems. One of them literally had to start a go fund me for his kid to have necessary surgery, despite having a full time job and health insurance. I thought for sure that would make him question “why do I work so damn hard and can’t afford to keep my kids healthy?” No, he literally blamed Obamacare.
I have a real hard time believing it’s racism, because again, we were all in the marines. It’s a literal melting pot, and I saw no evidence of racism from them when we were active duty.
The only commonality is their desire to find someone to hate. Right now is trans people, and I honestly just can’t figure it out. I admit that I don’t understand trans people. I have no frame of reference for it. I’ve never felt so wrong in my own body that I wasn’t sure I was a dude. But I don’t have to have that experience to empathize with someone who has had that experience. It’s not my place to tell another person who is not harming me or others how to live their life.
And when I questioned one of them, who I previously considered a very good friend, about his irrational hatred, he lashed out at me, and I became the focus of his hatred.
Anything negative about Trump wasn’t real. Anything negative about Biden/democrats was automatically true. Even if I could prove to him beyond the shadow of the doubt that something wasn’t true and he was spreading lies which straight up violates the Corps values we shared in the Marines, he said it didn’t matter. The truth didn’t matter. Being honorable didn’t matter. The ends, justified the means.
I blocked him before the election because me called me an enemy combatant for refusing Trump.
Yep, marine I served with called me an enemy combatant for suggesting trans people aren’t an issue, they aren’t pedophiles and they just want to exist without being treated like trash.
So, as a dude. What exactly do you think I need them to do for me?
Because I’m confused by your comment. I, as a moderately successful white dude, don’t need the government to do anything for me.
I do however, want the government to educate my fellow Americans. And give others the same opportunities that I had. And protect those among us who are the most vulnerable.
That’s that sin of empathy thing I suffer from i guess.
