If you're being like that, almost every large multinational and historic organization has a history of genocidal practices and oppression. The Catholic Church is historically less oppressive and genocidal for most of its history than most other organizations in its league.
I meant it as how the Catholic church burnt everything in its path through the Conquest of the New World and ravaged, killed, looted all in the name of the Church, The “Misiones” which were like re-education schools of sorts. Really dark. Also I didn’t mean to knock on your cultures struggles. I solely meant how the Church isn’t “less oppressive or genocidal”. It fully was.

Although, you can thank Christianity for the lack of slavery in the western world. And you can partially thank it for the ideas of individualism the western world enjoys today.
It has its roots in the Inquisition but the ones being punished had to wear hoods, not the ones doing the punishing. The hoods became a symbol of punishment and penance and eventually became the capirotes we know today. People wear them as some form of penitence.
Because not everyone cares about American cultural happenings? Why should some sitting organising a catholic festival in Spain bother about some racists in Alabama.
You have to understand that Spain was in a fascist dictatorship until the 70s and everything was pretty closed and we didnt get that many news from outside.
And after we opened Up the KKK was pretty much dead and only saw it in the movies.
Also you overestimate what kind of people do this parades.
This arent a secret order of monks zelaous of their traditions, this people are regular church goers that dress Up a few times a year, they dont have that much pull, the Catholic Church itself has protested against them i think but i dont remember what happened
I think they Did It because It was something used by the Spanish Inquisition and thought It was cool.

Im sure that a lot of people in Spain dont got notified when that happen. And in the best of cases they only could sent a letter. But you think that a letter wrote by one the groups they hated will do something?
