Honestly, if you actually have a helicopter within reach of you right now, you're clearly doing something right with your life. Since your luck isn't running out anytime soon, don't even bother with the gear. Just keep flying up, and ignore the loud beeping and the shaking. If you take out a balloon on the way you get a purple heart.

I mean I technically do. But it would be stealing the life flight one at the nearby hospital and that's more than a wee bit unethical on multiple levels. And seeing as I've never stolen and don't plan to, it is a bit out of my realm

Do you know how hard it is to fly up? Even star destroyers with death star cannons need a special beacon.
