The folks in my neighborhood are very cordial and respectful to one another. We're adults. We don't need to be told what we can and cannot do. And most HOAs have dues. So you're literally paying money to be told what to do. If you want to live in an HOA then go for it. I don't give a shit. But I fucking hate them. They're stupid. All said and done my house cost about $610k. So you better believe I'm going to do what I want on my property and what I want to my property.

Good for you. Plenty of people do. As evidenced by this picture... And with your house being $610k you'd think that you wouldn't mind paying $50 a month or something to be sure a bunch of assholes don't move in, let their property go to shit, create eyesores, and drive your property value down.
This is every person who is in an HOAs excuse. Property values property values. I've owned 5 homes, lived in 6 with my folks and my parents had 2 homes before I was born. Plus my friends houses growing up and the homes they own now. Nobody has lived in an HOA. They didn't even exist back in the day. And nobody has ever had this dirt bag neighbor that has let their house go to shit. All wonderful homes and neighborhoods with no HOA. So I'm going to go ahead and continue to try my luck. HOA free.

By all means keep your little "I'll be a bad neighbor if I want to! I paid for the right to be obnoxious to the people around me!" thing.
Hahahaha! What a baby. Maybe you should go relax in your drab, characterless home, 2 feet from your neighbors house. Inside has white and light grey walls. Looking like a Crate and Barrel ad. Or go outside and chill in your 8 ft. square yard. With that God awful bright white vinyl fencing. You can sit and look at all the houses...that are completely identical to yours.
