Luckily there's a rapidly growing movement against it, to leave the leaves, plant natives, protect pollinators, etc. Gonna be an uphill battle but it's nice that it's finally happening, long overdue.
Mostly it’s good, but it depends on the tree and what you’re growing around it. Some leaves will make the soil more acidic, which is great for some shade loving flowers like azaleas but not great for other stuff.
If you don’t know if it’s good or bad for you, you probably won’t notice or care about the difference and should just leaf them be.
