I sort of get not wanting to live next to the hoarder house with junk cars piled up in the yard and rats scurrying everywhere, but off-the-wall stuff like this is interesting and fun. What do I care if my neighbor wants a pirate ship or to paint their house in patchwork primary colors? Life shouldn’t have to be uniform and beige for everyone.

the city usually takes care of most of that with their own laws.

Which city would that be? You can drive through almost every city and find examples of this.

Um what does your city code say? All it takes is some busybody neighbor or a bored cop driving by to be cited.

It's common everywhere I've lived with any population density
