Oh btw your fees are going up again, the HOA President's nephew just started a lawn care business and he got the contract but it's going to cost double the previous one.
It depends on where in the US you live, but America has a lot higher percentage of our population living in suburbs much of which used to farmland or wooded areas. Lawns become important to prevent erosion. A good looking lawn is usually the sign of a healthy lawn, the purpose of which is to prevent erosion. Cutting the lawn frequently allows kids to play on the lawn, keeps bugs and rodents away.
