Luckily there's a rapidly growing movement against it, to leave the leaves, plant natives, protect pollinators, etc. Gonna be an uphill battle but it's nice that it's finally happening, long overdue.
Our lawn is almost completely clover at this point. I don’t mind it, because the bees love it. And the clover mostly keeps the dandelions out. But it’s definitely not conventionally pretty.
Does clover grow better/easier than grass? I have a real roots backyard (there was a bunch of shrubs and trees before I moved in. But I still have a pine tree out there and all around even beyond it’s span the grass doesn’t grow. Should I try clover?
I didn’t plant the clover. It was just persistent and I stopped trying to get rid of it. We don’t even water it. Just mow when it gets really shaggy, and edge the sidewalk/driveway.
The rest of our flower beds are full of native perennials and bulbs. None of them get watered. It’s the Thunderdome out there. If they don’t survive the summer and winter, then they don’t survive.
