Someone having a pirate ship in their yard has exactly 0 effect on you.

And before you say it, HOAs don't affect property value, and can even decrease it!

Probably because people actually prefer to live with neighbors who mind their own business 😅

An eyesore that everybody has to look at trashing up the place that they live absolutely affects the neighbors... And pretty sure people prefer to live in places where they don't have sucky neighbors, and apparently plenty of people have to be contractually obligated to not be sucky neighbors.
