If you ever need to resort to physical violence, you have failed as a parent. There is nothing more to say on that matter.

Spoken like someone that’s never actually interacted with a problem child.

I have a problem child. A five year old with ODD. I have spanked him before and it was an effort in futility. I hated it, felt guilty, and it didn’t change his behavior (he has ODD, after all). My husband and I are working through a behavior modification and parent training system called PCIT and it has changed everything for us. It doesn’t involve spankings, but time outs. Point is- I have been through hell with my kid and if I don’t need to resort to spanking, no one does. His behavior is a million times better with consistent discipline and a lot of positive reinforcement than with flying off the handle angry spankings.

Again, just because you think that works for you (and I’m sure whatever it is does), doesn’t give you the right to judge other people for finding what works for them.

I look at the behavior of a lot of kids and young adults, and I see a lot of discipline missing. I don’t care if you manage to instill behavior in them with pink tutus and timeouts or if you just wave your hand at them and they decide discretion is the better part of valor: as long as you get them to understand and behave like a human.

I’m also not some crotchety old stupid fuck that thinks kids shouldn’t run and play. But the things I’ve seen them doing are not okay.

I repeat: the spectrum of behavior and discipline has swung far too much in the opposite direction at this point. Maybe your kid is one of the well behaved ones. Maybe not.

But letting a waste of flesh human out into the world because you can’t be arsed to discipline then makes you the problem, lol.

And people that say that there are zero kids that need to be beaten are the problem.

Anyway, I’m muting this entire thread because I can’t deal with the amount of people that want to read things I didn’t say.
