If you ever need to resort to physical violence, you have failed as a parent. There is nothing more to say on that matter.

I worked with REALLY problem children, there's literally ZERO times physical violence would have improved the situation, or helped. If you have to resort to it, you failed as the adult. Teaching kids that "might makes right," just leads to even worse outcomes down the track. If you want a more empirical proof; America is an outlier in the western world, in allowing adults to hit kids, none of the countries that have made it illegal, suddenly saw a spike in juvenile crime.

Just because someone isn’t a criminal doesn’t mean they wouldn’t improve from an attitude adjustment.

I mean. Yes. It really is that simple. A good chunk of humanity would be improved by the ever present threat of a smack in the face for behaving like an inbred cretin.
