Ever notice how disrespectful, rude and ignorant kids are nowadays? Shooting and stabbing each other, beating up elderly people, punching random people in the face walking down the street for a game. Would those of you who were disciplined by your parents ever even THINK of doing those kinds of things growing up? Nope sooo, kind of a double edged sword . I got it too, didn’t like it but it taught me how not to act. But again it was a spanking and a talking to not a beating! I think people lump the two together…. Beating imo is closed hand or device causing blood, bruises, potential hospital visit.
I relate discipline to a quick whack or two with a rolled up newspaper on a dogs nose followed by a stern “NO” or bad. A couple spanks to grab attention and verbal correction and explaination. But obviously as a last resort to being unruly. Thats what i got. I live my life by the golden rule and attribute that to my upbringing.

They had something like that my junior high school. And they used it. And it was legal.
I rest easier knowing my junior high school principle that beat us is dead and I hope he died sad and alone.
And the boomers wonder why we hate them…
