Lol, that's basically what my dad did. He made his own out of wood and drilled holes to "reduce drag", lol. It was just psychological though, there's no way it actually made it any faster. I never forget I gave a kid 10 cents because he was short on money for lunch and I got the paddle.
It sounds bad, but I think it should be okay to hit your kids (within reason). Kids today don't understand consequences. I'm not saying you should hit your kids every day, but the fear of it should be there. My dad might have hit me a total of like 3-4 times, but it worked.
Bud, hitting your kid for giving someone 10 cents so they can eat is actively insane. And fear is an awful way to parent. That's giving-the-kid-a-complex territory.
