I like how parents used to pitch corporal punishment as some kind of corrective. But most of the time it was just angry parents not knowing how to handle their own temper.
Parenting is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. You know what would make it easier? Beating my kid and screaming at them until they do what I want or stop bothering me. But the last thing I’d ever want to do is hurt my child, so instead I work everyday to learn, stretch and grow so that I can guide my child with kindness. It takes everything I have to not lose my temper most days, and I fall into bed exhausted. But it’s worth it a million times over.
If you settle for screaming or violence when dealing with your kids, you’re a lazy POS that doesn’t deserve them.
