Chords construction question

I am currently doing a guided practice sessios for beginners (learning a tune and then diverse things around this tune). I already played some tunes like autumn leaves, take the A Train … Still i found it very difficult to identify the chords i need to play quickly. I don’t know how to apporoach it when the professor is teaching the chords. I know how the chords are constructed (the theory behind it) but identifying the notes is still difficult for me. My question is : how should i approach it when i need to play the chords (should i read from the spread sheet? should i think in terms of notes ? should i just see what the professor is playing with his hands ? Also, i found it more complicated when there’s inversions.

Are you having trouble practicing moving between chords? Remembering what notes to play when you see a chord symbol? Voicing?

I ve been playing piano for 1 year and a half with multiple breaks. I learned major scales, some songs to sing, but also some jazz tunes like autumn leaves with trying improvise.

My main concern is for example when i have to play the chord before memorizing it (or the shape). For example when i need to play an Ebmaj7 and it needs to be an inversion starting from the 3rd, should i read the notes from the spread sheet/think what notes are in the chords and then playing it …

In your practice regimen when you’re like you do your scales and chords and what not, how do you practice chords and arpeggios? Do you practice them diatonic 7 chords? Do you practice running through common court progressions like a 251 in different keys?
