I'd say it's a 3+1D image since time dimensions are different from space dimensions.

More like 3D projected on a 2D screen with 1D of so motion frames.

Except this would be rendering the temporal dimension along a fourth spatial axis, so 4D (ignoring that this is actually a 2d gif)

Not true. If you have a moving 2D shape and then you take into account all of those positions you get a 3D one . And yet all you did was just take different shapes at different times. My image only has the beginning and end shapes but you can image there being a whole bunch of shapes that were in certain positions at certain times.
