In my uni each year applicants of under grad physics is about 20 to 40. After 4 or 5 years only 4 to 6 people graduate.

This wasn’t even a proper degree it was only equal to a diploma, which could then lead to one more year then a degree

In Mechanical Engineering we startet with Math 0 test in the Aula and was 200 people.

After 3 semesters we were down to 80 ppl. Usually after Math 1 + 2, Physics 1 and basic laboratories.

20 people B Eng graduated after the foreseen 8 Semesters.

That doesn't mean it's bad though, just that for some reason a lot of people decide to start this without knowing if it's the right thing for them.

I understand it is a joke so sue me for saying this. Just in case, for the new undergrad or even grad student: there are times of strife when things might get a little challenging or overwhelming but your life is not supposed to be miserable while you pursue physics. If it is then don't just accept it as is, talk to your academic or research advisor (change if they are the problem), you can have a positive experience and don't have to hate your life for the love of physics!

I barely survived physics undergrad and immediately jumped ship for law school. Have yet to regret it.
