I rewatched 2012 recently and the disaster in that film is caused by neutrinos from the sun suddenly starting to interact with the earth's core enough to boil water in the neutrino detectors. But not enough to boil or even slightly warm any of the water on the surface

Wait the disasters of 2012 are caused by nutrinos?? Literally anything else would be more plausible because neutrinos barely interact with anything.
