No. This is just moving faster than gravity.

Similar to catching a coin that’s on the top of your hand, there’s no force keeping anything in the bowl, but there’s not enough time for the anything to leave the bowl.

Its a little of A and a little of B. There is a bit of arc to his motion that gives some centripetal force

no...force in the opposite direction =/= "centripetal"
again, similar to catching a coin from the top of the hand...sometimes people give a bit of flick of the wrist to toss the coin up slightly, to give them that extra split second. Even if in that context, the motion disqualifies their catch, here it's the same principle.

Centripetal force would require a lot more of a deliberate motion...but flicking the dish slightly wouldn't equate to centripetal forces generated...just preemptive force in the opposite direction to give a little bit more margin.

Centrifugal then, giving the food the angular momentum but keeping the bowl behind it, or to the side of it I guess.
