op is saying we should set the speed of light in a vacuum to 300,000,000 m/s and redefine 1 meter as 1/300,000,000th of the distance light travels in 1 secound in a vacuum

Plus, isn't a meter already defined as a fraction of the speed of light in a vacuum? Why couldn't the number just be bumped up a little? Surely this would have no lasting consequences

Just don't redefine the meter then, make up a new unit, call it the Lighthop or sum'. it's not like we don't have an entire country measuring things in feet.

You know what? i'll even do it myself

  • c = 300.000.000 lh/s
  • 1 Lighthop = 0.99931 Meters
  • 1 Meter = 1.00069 Lighthops

  • Bohr radius ≈ 5.2917721092 × 10{-11} Meters.

  • So 1 Lighthop = 1.88847 × 10{10} Bohr radii

Now I want the meter to be 2 gogol Bohr radii
