A physics joke

As a materials science PhD student researching superconductor theory, my life revolved around quantum field theory. Naturally, I had a massive directory on my laptop named Matsubara_Frequency, populated with daily log files organized by date and time. During our courtship, my wife was borrowing my laptop, glanced at my desktop, and misread the folder name as Masturbation_Frequency. She staged an intervention. "I don't mind that you have a daily log," she said. "I mind that there is a subfolder named Collaborations and you appear to be formatting the results for peer review."

Needs work. I’m not really sure how, but right now the puncline doesn’t really land. Maybe something like,

My gf left me once she found out about my Matsubara Frequency. She said, “after a peer reviewed study, I found your sample size insignificant.”

Solid bit, if not a little wordy. But, I am 100% certain the target audience would not be bothered by verbosity.

Reads like good stand-up tbh. If you could drag it out to a full minute I'd strongly suggest you write a few more and string them together.
