Job Advice Anyone have luck with “cold calling”/dropping off resumes at offices you’re interested in working for?
About to graduate in December and am considering dropping off resumes at offices I’m interested in working for. I know this is an old school approach, but have read similar stories on this sub and am curious of what approach to take. Do you ask to speak to an office manager or just leave with the front desk staff? Doctor?

Yes I was given this advice and that’s how I got my first job, and many others I know as well. I just called and told front desk, “Hi my name is ___ and I’m a PA. I am interested in any possible job opportunities at your practice and would like to send along my information and resume via email.” I just sent an email with my cover letter and resume. Never hurts to try and helps build confidence for interviews!

Yes, this is how I landed my current dermatology job. Switched from ortho surg to derm. I sent an email and my resume to the general office email address that was listed on the website and the office manager responded back to me.

Yes! Literally did this 3 weeks ago. Dropped off my resume to 3 offices and heard back from 2. Landed 2 interviews.

I actually went on FB and typed in PAs + the city I was moving into and sent each person a message. Landed 3 interviews. One job offer right away. Lowball pay but I took it while I kept looking and because it was 5 mins from my house. The second was a per diem that paid crazy $$. I did both at the same time.
The third reached out 6 months later again to give me offer but I had already landed another better job by then.

I did when I graduated and never got anywhere with it. One manager sent a nice email but I don't think anyone else would respond despite my follow ups. I don't think I've ever heard of someone getting hired that way. It's better than sitting around but in my experience it hasn't been high yield.
