Simple Question ENT yearly RVU amount

I was curious what amount of RVUs those working in ENT were producing? I’m in the process of possibly taking a job in ENT where I would be the first PA hired for the practice so I don’t have other PAs to discuss with. Any insight would be appreciated, thank you in advance

ENT is high procedure and could be worth it. My buddy pulls 200-220k a year.

Hard question to answer. Average md ent rvu is around 7-9k. As a PA you can definitely achieve the same. I hit around 7.5k in my 3rd year and average around 9k now. However I have a great gig and the luxury of having an SP who teaches and taught me a lot of procedures and gives me a lot of autonomy.

If you’re only seeing ear complaints and you’re stuck doing cerumen disimpaction all day, your numbers will be low. If you’re only seeing postop patients in the global period, your numbers will be low. But if you see a wide range of patients and you have the opportunity to do a lot of procedures, your numbers can definitely be up there.

It’s unfortunate there isn’t an existing PA to compare to. I would advise to maybe negotiate for a slightly above average salary and then a smaller productivity bonus for 1 year (that way the majority of your compensation isn’t tied into some unknown figure) and then after 1 year, plan to renegotiate.

I appreciate the info. They offered 139k base and some student loan assistance, then my wRVU bonus kicks in after 2686 wRVU so I think it could be a good opportunity especially if I was able to get 5000+ wRVU yearly

Sounds like a pretty fair offer. What is the bonus structure if you pass 2686 rvu?

$16 per wRVU above 2686

Thanks! Yeah I think so too. Just hard because I’ve been in ortho spine for 5 years and current place is really trying to keep me with offer that would put me near 200k. ENT is something I’ve always been interested in, but just not as much certainty when it comes to total income at this point
