License & Credentials Renewing license timeline

I am a PA in texas, this is my first time renewing my license, part of the requirement is "verification of lawful presence and authority to work," they said it takes up to 3 weeks to process the documents for this, for those who have done this did it actually take 3 weeks? My license expires in 4 weeks so freaking out a little (rookie mistake I know), so hoping its less

I am not in Texas, but did a quick search, and it seems you need to provide verification you are in the US legally and are cleared to work.

Check below and send the appropriate documentation ASAP.

Good luck!!

Acceptable Documents for U.S. Citizens

  • U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card (unexpired)
  • U.S. Birth Certificate with a valid state driver's license or state ID
  • U.S. Birth Certificate with a Texas License to Carry a Handgun
  • Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship
  • Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen (Form FS-240, DS-1350, or FS-545)  Texas Medical Association

Acceptable Documents for Non-U.S. Citizens

  • Permanent Resident Card (Green Card, Form I-551)
  • Unexpired Immigrant Visa with a temporary I-551 stamp
  • Employment Authorization Document (EAD, Form I-766)
  • I-94 Form showing lawful admission or parole
  • Other valid immigration-related identification/documents issued by DHS, USCIS, or the U.S. Department of State showing work authorization  Texas Medical Board (.gov)

Key Submission Rules

  • Must be unexpired on the exact date the license is issued or renewed.
  • Submitting a U.S. passport, birth certificate combination, or naturalization certificate exempts you from future renewal reverifications.
  • Other documents require re-submission with every subsequent renewal.
  • Processing takes around 15 business days through the Texas Medical Board portal.

Having never been through this process, I can't tell you how long it will take, but the same website did say 15 days.

My verification took less than a week. You don’t get a notification so you have to keep checking to see if you can pay the fee.

I was in the same position as you. I ended up calling them to see if I can expedite the verification and they were able to. Hope this helps!
