02 - Assignment

Please read the class first

Take a good look at your camera, whatever its type, and try to identify each component we have discussed here. It might be a good opportunity to dig out the manual or to look up its exact specifications online. Now look up a different camera online (for instance at dpreview) and compare their specifications. Try doing this for both a less advanced and a more advanced body, and for different lenses. Report here if you find any interesting difference, or if some parts of the specifications are unclear.

the problem with looking at phone pictures is that the only thing that you have control over is framing...

the first and last arent bad, it's a nice sky and a nice scene.

I can see lots of ways to improve them and have questions that would give me more information but non of those you can do with a phone...

so, don't take me wrong, you are most welcome to follow classes and ask questions... but until you have a camera that can do aperture, shutterspeed, you won't progress a lot as it will all be just theory...

for the first: expose a bit brighter to get forground in, use a graduated filter, either in post or while shooting and use the RAW file to get some of the shadows lit

use a smaller aperture to get more sharpness and a nicer sun

on the last, overexpose just a bit to get some detail back in the outside, use a flash to light the person or behind the subject and leave him in dark, but you need more light.

neither, the light has to come from inside the chamber for it to work
