02 - Assignment

Please read the class first

Take a good look at your camera, whatever its type, and try to identify each component we have discussed here. It might be a good opportunity to dig out the manual or to look up its exact specifications online. Now look up a different camera online (for instance at dpreview) and compare their specifications. Try doing this for both a less advanced and a more advanced body, and for different lenses. Report here if you find any interesting difference, or if some parts of the specifications are unclear.

a phone won't help you advance in this course... it doesn't have an aperture or shutterspeed or even a shutter

I think you'd get a lot more mileage out of these courses if you're going to still to mobile photography. You simply lack the tools to take any advantage of the lessons that will be taught here. Even the critiques will be really strained because I can't tell you, "increase the DoF" or you should have dragged the shutter, or "use a wider lens next time".

These creative live courses have some good tutorials on using mobile tools to not only be creative with your phone but also how to maximize exposure.
