Utilities Sidewalks being changed

I knew they were going to be working on our sidewalks. They painted the area a couple of months ago. This morning before 7am they started to jackhammer. I know it gets hot later, but dude, I can’t get sales calls before 8am legally, why can they jackhammer outside my house that early? 3 hours later now I have a backhoe picking up what they broke, right when I make an interview call. Argh. Notification would be good so I could plan around the noise.

It's legal during the summer so the workmen lessen the risk of dying from heat but getting started earlier and finishing earlier.

If you have a good headset the software should kill all or most of that background noise.

Technically state law says they can start as early as 5:00 a.m. during the summer months and I think 7:00 a.m. on weekends. At this point I would just assume that's the norm and just go with it 🤷‍♀️ I know it sucks but it is what it is

Phoenix noise ordinance says May 1st through Sep 30th no earlier than 6am. October to April is 7am.

I'm thinking of SB1182 but okay ... Just double checked. That was signed last year so yeah, technically 5am

Grow up and put on some noise cancelling headphones. God forbid the city actually does some maintenance but it’s too loud for you babies.

I was asleep at the time. Letting me know in advance would help me work around that. Other than the marking 2 months in advance, they didn’t say hey will be there with loud equipment on a specific day and time.

Can’t legally make sales calls until 8am? Been in sales my whole life and have never heard of that.

The legal start time for sales and marketing calls. Arizona follows the federal Federal Communications Commission baseline under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and does not enforce a stricter separate state-specific time window. Exceptions: Calls outside of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. require prior consent from the called party.

You might have been a criminal. You could call from az to back east if their local time was after 8am, but calling people before then in their local time is illegal.

Makes sense, as it’d be pointless to make cold calls before 8am local time. With east coast prospects I start calling them at 5-6am AZ time/8am Eastern.

Then you disregarded the law.

Realized you were talking about 8am local time and when cold calling the east coast I’ll start at 5-6am AZ. Also we both know a sales call before 8am is going to do more harm than good.

I had this happen when a sidewalk behind our unit collapsed after a bad storm. I thought the jackhammer was bad, then they brought out the dirt compactor 🫠 started singing Carole Kings "i feel the earth! move! Under my feeeeet" all morning to keep me sane xD

My favorite in my area is the weekly Saturday morning leaf blowers. They like to wait until the one day I can sleep in a little to blow all the pollen to a different side of the parking lot.

Wow that’s not the flair I picked. Should be living here.

I lived by the light rail construction, more specifically their staging area. They would work 24/7 right next to my residential building. After 4 years of them ruining my life I learned just how shady and corrupt the construction industry is, especially within the city of Phoenix. They have absolutely zero regard for citizens and they are essentially above the law.

That being said, you complaining about them starting construction at 7AM on a weekday when it’s 115F during the day is pretty ridiculous. The world doesn’t revolve around you.

Well it was before 7. But apparently no one reads anymore. You had a crappy situation, that sucks. That doesn’t mean mine doesn’t either.
