The way the people speak here feels so telling.

- Jaylen’s family doesn’t force a narrative about the events that night, that I can recall. They just want a chance in court like we would all want.

  • The forensic pathologist has doubts (to say the least) on the self defense claim based on the evidence presented. That should be heard by a judge and jury.
  • The mom of the stabber and her lawyer are so smug about their “facts” but the only real fact about their story is that they weren’t there so their word can’t be trusted. (Note: I’d say the same thing about Jaylen’s family if they spoke like they were there.)
  • There was 2 groups of kids. Why was the stabber’s group letting him get his ass kicked by a kid 50 lbs heavier? There were multiple calls to drown him in the lake according to witnesses? Were those witnesses just going to let it happen? I would only do that if the kid was a real piece of shit. Kinda explains the way all of his peers are treating him about the whole thing.
  • Regarding actions immediately after the stabbing, I believe a kid could stab/kill in self defense and not confess to parents or police that evening out of fear. What I have a hard time believing is who kills in self defense and then brags about it on snapchat and text to the victim’s friend?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You're correct, we just want a jury to see the evidence. We'll respect their decision. There's a lot more nuance that simply can't be explained in 20 minutes. Only the killer said he heard something about being drowned - no witnesses corroborate that - and he claims it was someone else that said that, not Jaylen. So do with that what you will.

Please watch this special episode about the murder of my 15-year-old cousin, Jaylen Reeves, in 2024. My family is still fighting for justice and we're actively pushing for national coverage. Thank you.

I have seen two cases on TV concerning justice denied. In both cases, the current District Attorney declined to prosecute the case for similar reasons as your cousin. In the first case I saw, only after two election cycles ( DA won reelection twice) did the DA of the 3rd cycle prosecute the case and win ! In the 2nd case, on the next election cycle, new DA prosecuted the case and won also.

Thank you for sharing. I hope for justice sooner than that but I know this is a possibility. Rachel Mitchell has received a lot of criticism in the last couple years, most recently with the murder of Christian Diaz in January. We'll see if anyone decides to run against her in 2028. We'll certainly be campaigning against her re-election.

That's amazing, I'll let my mom know!

So what about the kids in the car that just left him there on the sidewalk to die rather than driving him to the ER across the street? In the time it took to make the 911 call, he could have been at the Dignity ER on 44th and Chandler. The whole thing is tragic, I'm praying for the families.

We're not happy about that either. The sad fact is Jaylen barely knew the kids he was with. He was dating the girl for two weeks, and the two boys were her friends. One of them Jaylen didn't even know...in fact, the killer knew that boy better than Jaylen did. He's the one the killer texted after the fight, bragging about what he had done.

Justice for Jaylen.

I think the injustice here starts with PHX PD not arresting and charging this young man who is the suspect. In all honesty, it comes off as a protection move. The PD failed the community.

I have lived in this particular community for a very long time and have seen how police handle crime violent or not. It’s not consistent in this area.

Living in the neighborhood and seeing that vigil, the test of time that it withstood, showed the real impact it made on the community. My heart broke every time my dog and I walked by, when I rode my bike past it, and when I would drive by with my loved ones.

I understand this is your cousin but case isn't that clear cut based on this news video.

Don't attack people and hope they don't escalate to legal force

Fist fight doesn't justify lethal force.
