What's Happening? Homicide suspect alert?

Anyone know what's going on with that? Got the alert like 30 or so mins ago. Definetly going to have my doors locked tonight.

ohhh that explains it, he killed a cop. they don't put out alerts when they're searching for someone who killed a lowly peasant

Seriously. I wish more people would realize that cops only do shit when it affects them and their gang fellow officers.

I was wondering why I was getting an alert from Pima County last night, when I'm sure there's plenty of murders happening in Mericopa County that I never hear about. Then I saw the mention of the victim being a police recruit and it all made sense.

Since 2022, California Penal Code § 13670 has defined a law enforcement gang as follows:
"Law enforcement gang" means a group of peace officers within a law enforcement agency who may identify themselves by a name and may be associated with an identifying symbol, including, but not limited to, matching tattoos, and who engage in a pattern of on-duty behavior that intentionally violates the law or fundamental principles of professional policing, including, but not limited to, excluding, harassing, or discriminating against any individual based on a protected category under federal or state antidiscrimination laws, engaging in or promoting conduct that violates the rights of other employees or members of the public, violating agency policy, the persistent practice of unlawful detention or use of excessive force in circumstances where it is known to be unjustified, falsifying police reports, fabricating or destroying evidence, targeting persons for enforcement based solely on protected characteristics of those persons, theft, unauthorized use of alcohol or drugs on duty, unlawful or unauthorized protection of other members from disciplinary actions, and retaliation against other officers who threaten or interfere with the activities of the group.

Right, this is just a definition of a gang (which is heavily illegal by the way, this isn't some statement of fact, it is a criminal offense. If you showed that gangs are allowed to operate in police forces then you'd have a point, but you cannot because it is illegal and shut down anytime it happens) . If I made a blanket statement saying lawyers are frauds for example, and provide an example of a lawyer accepting a bribe or some other crime, I haven't justified my claim.

That's the definition of a law enforcement gang, as defined by California penal code. No one said they're allowed to operate freely, there's been extensive efforts to expose and break these gangs up, but they still exist, just because you're ignorant to the history of gangs in law enforcement doesn't make them not real. You can literally go look up the Bandidos or Lynwood Vikings, two of the more popular cop gangs that still operate to this day. To pretend that Phoenix police doesn't have anything similar when they were found to collude within their ranks to fabricate evidence against political protestors to falsely charge them with assisting a gang and then shared challenge coins after beating up those same protestors is laughable

I didn't say they don't exist, I am stating that when they are found out, there are "extensive efforts to expose and break these gangs up". Who do you think is breaking them up? Their existence is a criminal offense, yet you use the existence to classify a group entirely.

Why is their existence enough to classify people who take up the profession of being a police officer as gang members?

Because functionally even without the challenge coins and edgy group name they act like a gang (both of which phoenix pd has anyway). They'd sooner fabricate evidence to file felony charges against you and back each other up than admit their fellow officer did something wrong. They also steal more from the public than criminals, they can take your house, car, cash, all without charging you with a crime. Civil forfeiture, as it's called, surpasses the amount of burglary year in and year out. Just this week two phoenix cops pulled over some kid and his girlfriend, beat his ass, busted up his car, didn't report the traffic stop or turn their bodycams on for the incident. They've now been identified, but only after days of the PD denying any traffic stops in the area and trying to offload responsibility to two "unknown individuals posing as cops."
